The Adventures of Prince Achmed is based on tales from The Arabian Nights and still stands as one of the great classics of animation — witty, lively, delicate, inventive, stirring and romantic. Prince Achmed journeys from the Middle East to China and beyond. Based on tales from The Arabian Nights this is the oldest surviving animated feature film, still regarded as one of the great classics of animation. Musician Chris Davies reinvigorates the film with his skillful composition and live performance using a spectacular array of instruments from around the world. The prince rides a flying horse to far-away lands and embarks on magical adventures, which include befriending a witch, meeting Aladdin, battling demons and falling in love with a princess.

BRITISH CONNECTION

Lotte Reiniger left Germany after the Nazis took power, she eventually settled in England with husband Carl Koch.
