About AniJam UK
We’re excited to be delivering a national animation competition in partnership with www.anijam.co.uk (WONKY and Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival) and Manchester Animation Festival. Over the summer, animators across the UK were invited to take part in a 48-hour animation challenge. Since the regional heats, we’ll have a public vote, exclusive prizes, screenings, a Public Choice award and a Grand Prix winner.
AniJam UK aims to inspire and showcase new work from emerging and established talent from across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Animators and artists over the age of 18 can compete in teams of 2 to 5 people, and will have just 48 hours to produce an original film based on a specific theme in any style of animation (as long as it can be shown on a big and small screen!).
AniJam UK picks
The films selected from each regional heat form a shortlist of animations for the big screen eligible for a Public Choice and a Grand Prix Award.
What are the prizes?
The shortlisted films will be screened as part of Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival and a range of additional venues. They will also be opened up to a public vote online at anijam.co.uk. As well as the Public Choice Award, a Grand Prix will be selected by a panel of industry experts including representatives from UK film festivals, BAFTA Cymru and the BFI. Both winners will be announced at the Manchester Animation Festival in November. Further prizes up for grabs include delegate tickets to Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival, bespoke trophies created by Animation Toolkit and distribution by ShortsTV – ‘the global home of short movies’.
