The first U.S. spaceship to Venus crash-lands off the coast of Sicily on its return trip. A dangerous, lizard-like creature comes with it and quickly grows gigantic. The only survivor is Hopper and he’s frightened that he may have lost a canister holding specimens of Venusian life.

Ray Harryhausen wrote the screenplay for this film. He was an American-British visual effects creator, writer and producer who created a form of stop-motion model animation known as “Dynamation”.
